Extended Application Supports

To all High School Language Arts teachers:

The Department of Instruction, Curriculum & Assessment is working with the Office of High Schools to develop supports for our Extended Application for High School Seniors. The Extended Application that seniors must complete is a graduation requirement. As part of this application, students must complete a My Plan Essay and resume. The essay and resume are designed as a culminating activity to a student’s high school career. Student directions for completing the essay and resume are in Naviance. 

The Department of Instruction, Curriculum & Assessment is developing instructional resources and guidance for teachers on how to support senior high school students. ELA high school teachers who provide direct instruction to seniors will need to provide instructional support in the classroom to ensure that students complete these requirements by the end of his senior year, even though students may be working on these requirements during their sophomore and junior years. Principals will give guidance on training and other supports available in August.
