Dyslexia 101 PD Opportunity

PPS is partnering with Decoding Dyslexia Oregon to offer a workshop which will explore the neurological components of dyslexia, as well as current and historical research. Participants will be able to recognize the common signs and symptoms through formal and informal assessment and learn exactly how to support the dyslexic learner through appropriate intervention, accommodation and modification.

The Dyslexia 101 Workshop is Friday, 11/14/14, from 12:30-4:00, and will be held at Junior Achievement Portland (7830 SE Foster Road).  A limited number of subs are available for PPS teachers interested in attending.  Sign up on The Learning Campus.

  • Understand key research in the field of dyslexia.
  • Recognize the characteristics of a dyslexic learner (signs and symptoms) using formal and informal testing and classroom data.
  • Effectively apply appropriate accommodations.
  • Identify appropriate interventions and modifications.
