The PPS Priority Standards for Language Arts are now available. The prioritization work was completed as part of the Language Arts adoption process by members of the Curriculum Materials Adoption Advisory Committee (CMAAC). More information about how the priority standards were determined is posted on the Priority Standards page of the adoption website. (see link above). In addition, detailed annotations, which outline the reasoning behind which standards were prioritized, are included in the documents. The PPS Priority Standards are organized by grade band and strand; they can be viewed online via Google Docs or downloaded as PDFs.
The next step in the process is to gather feedback from all 6-12 Language Arts teachers. Ideally, grade level and/or department teams would spend time reviewing and working with the priority standards as they are planning for instruction, whether for the current year or looking ahead to 2015-16. Teams are encouraged to submit any suggested changes via the survey link that can be found just below the standards documents on this page. The window for submitting feedback will be open through October 1, 2015.
