Jump Rope & Hoops For Heart!

The American Heart Association is proud to partner with the Portland Public School District through Jump Rope & Hoops For Heart!  This community service project teaches our students the importance of heart health (exercise, nutrition and living tobacco free), while having a great time jumping rope or playing hoops!  Students also have the opportunity to raise funds online for the American Heart Association to provide education in our community, advocate for schools and fund research & development, all in an effort to lower the risks of America’s #1 and #4 killers, heart disease and stroke.

YOUR Student learns about the importance of the heart—how it works, and how to take care of it: With the educational programs from the American Heart Association, our students learn how the heart works, how exercise affects their hearts and how to stay FIT FOR LIFE!

This program supplements your current curriculum:  You have access to lesson plans, activity ideas and receive materials to support a Jump or Hoops Unit. Additionally, the school earns money for PE equipment so we can keep our kids MOVING!   You also have the opportunity to support your SHAPE organization, receive membership discounts and clock hours for hosting the program.

Your Student feels good for making a difference in people’s lives! Funds raised support the heart association’s research and education initiatives that save lives in our community. Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of all Americans and more people die of heart disease than all forms of cancer combined. The American Heart Association is second only to the U.S. government in funding research in heart disease and stroke.
