"When Struggling Readers Thrive, Dreams Come True" Summit

The "When Struggling Readers Thrive, Dreams Come True" Summit is coming to Portland January 22 – 23, 2016.  The summit brings together international and nationally-recognized experts in teaching K-4 reading and writing to share research, proven strategies, and cutting-edge innovations at the classroom, school, and system-level. The second day of the summit will focus on research and strategies for robust and successful full-day kindergarten programs.

Literacy Grants



The Oregon Reading Association is offering ten $200 Literacy Special Projects Grants. Current members are eligible to submit a one page proposal on how they would use funds to promote literacy. Deadline: November 15, 2014.

The Flying Classroom: coming next fall!


The Flying Classroom is a cutting-edge, global, STEM+ learning adventure. It is a Digital Learning Tool designed to help students excel in Math, Science, Reading, and other core subject areas aligned to academic benchmarks for grades K-8. The curriculum serves as an intervention and enrichment tool. The Flying Classroom is aligned to the National Common Core Standards and Next Generation Science Standards.

Powered by state-of-the-art technologies, The Flying Classroom will utilize a Beechcraft 400XPR airplane to travel to 11 countries, spanning 3 continents. An electronic portal originating on board the plane will promote learning anytime, anywhere, from a broad range of mobile devices.
